Treatments for OCD

 

Struggling with intrusive thoughts, compulsive behaviors, or mental rituals can feel overwhelming and isolating. Whether you’re experiencing classic OCD patterns or more subtle forms like Relationship OCD (R-OCD), evidence-based treatment can make a real difference.

I provide specialized therapy for adults, teens, and children (ages 9+), both in Brooklyn and online, with a strong focus on Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) — the gold-standard treatment for OCD.

Common OCD Presentations I Treat:

  • Contamination fears and excessive cleaning

  • Intrusive thoughts (harm, sexual, religious, etc.)

  • Checking, counting, or ordering rituals

  • Mental compulsions and rumination

  • Relationship OCD (R-OCD): constant doubt, reassurance-seeking, or fears about your partner or the relationship

  • "Pure O" or primarily obsessional OCD

  • Symmetry, perfectionism, and fear of making mistakes

Treatment Approaches Offered:

  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
    The frontline, evidence-based therapy for OCD. ERP helps you gradually face fears without engaging in compulsions, reducing anxiety and breaking the OCD cycle over time.

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
    Helpful for clients whose OCD symptoms are rooted in trauma or distressing life events. EMDR can address underlying emotional triggers that fuel obsessive thinking.

  • Lifespan Integration
    A gentle, body-based approach that supports nervous system regulation and healing of early developmental patterns that may contribute to anxiety and OCD symptoms.
